PHASE 2- Upgrade from an Official Statement of Eligibility (SOE) to Temporary certificate

Congratulations on completing your application for your teacher’s certification. Once your application is evaluated you will receive an Official Statement of Status of Eligibility.

a) An official letter of eligibility is now valid for 5 years. This letter will tell you if you are eligible for a temporary or professional license.  It will also list the requirements needed to be completed for a full state certification. Once employed by a school and your fingerprints are processed before your Official SOE expires, candidates will receive a temporary certificate if their Official SOE states that "you are eligible.” Please note that if your fingerprint is rejected due to being illegible, you will be notified in writing with additional instructions.

b)    If your Official SOE indicates that "you are not eligible" for a Florida certificate you will be provided with options for completing necessary requirements to become eligible for certification. Kindly follow the instructions on your letter. After successfully completing the requirements from you letter, your credentials will be reevaluated, and you will be issued an " Official SOE indicating that "you are eligible" for a Florida certificate. You can seek employment once you have received your new letter indicating that you are eligible.

c)    To be issued a Florida Temporary Certificate, candidates must be employed either in a public school or a nonpublic school that has a state-approved program for demonstration of professional education competence.
