Do You Want Your Teacher Certification? Be Intentional

HELP is right here! Schools in Florida are desperately in need of qualified teachers. The teacher shortage has reached a crisis stage. The public education system continues to suffer from teacher shortage as school administrators scramble to retain highly qualified educators. Industry experts suggest that the problem is that no one wants to teach anymore and it’s a tough job that not everyone can handle. As school administrators in Florida brace for a challenging year the school district tries to attract potential candidates by offering sign-on bonuses and stipends for teachers who choose to teach extra classes.  This solution is obviously inadequate and not sustainable.

Is teaching for you?

No job is perfect. The truth is everyone’s experience is unique. Choosing teaching is a noble undertaking which is not for everyone. Teachers are a unique breed of people, at least the ones I know. That is why it is important to speak with other educators, conduct your own research and observations. If you are considering a career in education, it’s important to ask yourself why I want to teach. Luckily for you, we’ve got some great reasons to get you started.

To Inspire

It takes a big heart to shape little minds. Educators can make a difference in the lives of students every day. It is not an exaggeration to say that a great teacher can change a student’s life. No matter what subject you choose to teach, every day presents a new opportunity to impact a student's life, contribute to their individual growth, and give them hope for the future.

To Impact

Every child deserves a champion. Why not let it be you?  Educators can have a lifelong impact on their students’ lives that extends beyond test scores: they teach them life skills and promote positive attitudes.  An important influence of teachers on students is their ability to shape a students’ attitude and behavior. A good teacher forms close ties with his learners and can in this way have a positive impact on a learner's life inside and outside the classroom.

To Engage

A great teacher makes learning fun, as stimulating, engaging lessons are pivotal to a student’s academic success.  Great teachers arrive each day ready to teach…even though not every student comes wanting to learn. It is important that students should enjoy what they are learning and look forward to coming to school every day. It is important that educators motivate students to want to learn and acquire the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in school and in life.
